Ongoing additions

Beyond the first twelve

The paper is where this started. These additions follow its pattern and its ground rule, convergence, not proof, and the list will keep growing.

The paper Ancient Wisdom, Modern Brains is where this work started. It reads twelve passages of Scripture alongside the research and closes each one with practices for living it out. The paper stands as it was written. The pages below are additions to it, and the list will keep growing.

Each addition follows the paper’s pattern and its rules. A short passage from the NASB 1995 is read in its own context. Then comes a body of peer-reviewed research, an honest account of what the studies cannot show, a question for the group, and five practices labeled by the strength of the evidence behind them. The ground rule is the same: convergence, not proof. The verse does not need the study, and the study does not prove the verse.

The additions were chosen from a wider survey of about thirty-three candidate pairings. Only those graded strong or moderate were written up here. Candidates resting on a single small study, or on popular claims that run ahead of the data, were left out on purpose. Every source cited in the additions was checked against its PubMed record or the publisher’s record. Where an addition touches a section of the original paper, it says so and points back to it.

Additions 13 through 23 rest on the strongest evidence: meta-analyses, large cohorts, or randomized trials. Additions 24 through 36 rest on sound but more limited evidence. Within each addition, every practice carries its own label.
